The concept of renewable energy has now come up when the conservation of resources have become such a global concern. Scientists have come up with different methods and strategies claming to save the non – renewable energy resources. However, since the pre historic times our ancestors have been using the renewable energy resources in many ways. Technically speaking, use of renewable energy resources an option has been explored and used long back. The pre historic people burned the bio mass for light and heat; the water mills and windmills were used for agricultural purposes way before we could understood the potential energy that water could provide.
The uses of non- renewable resources have created a problem throughout. The burning of such resources have always added to the problem of pollution and there by triggering the terror of global warning. It’s understandable that there are certain places where it’s just indispensable to give up the use of the non – renewable energy resources, leaving those the others could start using the renewable energy resources to save the environment. Not only saving the environment is crucial theses days, but the possibility of exhausting all the non- renewable resources is another concern. The renewable energy rescores are there and would be there. They have the capacity to be used over and over again without any kind of depletion which is not the case in the case of non renewable resources. For example, if you burn a piece of wood, it would turn into ashes. We can’t use ashes again as we could use wood- this is a non renewable resource. Another example -electricity is created by running water. Now the same water could be used over and over again. Electricity is not a component or ingredient making the water, that once electricity is extracted the water can’t be used again to produce electricity. However, on the other hand the non – renewable resources is the result of million of years of chemical reaction beneath the surface of the earth. This process is a very slow and natural process. This was never initiated by human beings now could it be initiated when we have exhausted all the natural resources. The urgency and the need of starting to use renewable energy resources are evident by this small fact. But still the companies are being a little reluctant to understand and implement the use of renewable energy resources over the non renewable resources.
There are so many environmentalist and social activist trying to make people and big companies understand the depletion that these non renewable energy resources are causing to the environment. Today we are looking at the non – renewable resources as a cheaper alternative as compared to the renewable energy resources, but this is only a micro view of the picture. They are not realizing today that our generations would be paying the cost for this carelessness. Not only that for the coming generations there would be either no or not enough non renewable resources left but would also be gifted with umpteen numbers of diseases. The environment would deplete in a way that no one could have imagined, giving birth to problems and diseases that the medical sciences would fail to cure.
